TOPIC:   Flower arranging can be as simple as gathering a few posies from the roadside  or as complex as designing a formal display for a special event.  You CAN do it yourself – all you need are a few tips and hints to make your arrangements look like they were done by a professional.  Our September speaker Dr. Win Mellor-Hay will demonstrate 3 designs from the up-coming flower show at the Bolton Fall Fair (Sept 21-23, 2018)  starting with selecting and conditioning the plant material chosen for 3 designs and talking about some of the elements of design as they come up.  Click here to download a copy of the 160th Bolton Fall Fair book – See Flower Show Class 24 page 45.

Win says, “People always think a water-viewing design is difficult, so I will build one (#7 “Reflections”) and you will see how easy it is.  Then I will do #8 “Where Have All the Flowers Gone?” which is an all-foliage design. You will see how texture, shade and shape can pack as big a punch as colour. Lastly, I will create an all-round design suitable for a centrepiece, based on #10 “Thanksgiving” with the addition of fruit and vegetables and possibly accessories, (i.e. candles etc.). This last design will be one of the door prizes at the end of the night. I’m excited and looking forward to seeing you on September 18th!”
