TOPIC: Heirloom vegetable seeds are ones that have been grown for at least 50 years, handed down from generation to generation.  These open pollinated seeds produce a wide variety of vegetables that may not resemble produce you find at the local greengrocer.

BDHS has purchased a large number of organic, open pollinated, heirloom vegetable seeds to share with people attending this meeting.  A small cost recovery fee will be charged for each envelope of seeds you select.   Here is an opportunity to try several new varieties without having to invest in a large seed order.

SPEAKER:  Brenda Heenan will demonstrate how to start seeds indoors to get a head start on the season. The demo will include info about assessing seed viability,  transplanting and caring for seedlings until they are ready for planting outdoors.  Brenda practiced organic horticulture for more than 30 years as an estate gardener and garden consultant.  She became an avid organic vegetable gardener upon her retirement.  She grows food for her family and friends in a 1200 sq foot plot at Albion Hills Community Farm.
